I’ve been putting in work with NYC street courier legend Kurt Boone designing graphics for messenger bags and apparel. He just sent me a pic of one the logos I designed for a bag and its looks awesome. This guy is an entrepreneur through and through, from poet, publisher and designer. Check out his site at www.kurtboonebooks.com.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags Art, photograph on February 25, 2011 by briandinonnoIt takes a certain photographer to catch my eye. The photographers images have to be a lil off, a lil different, but definitely not the norm. I “found” the works of Irina Werning’s set “Back to the Future” on FFFOUND! and boy its an awesome idea! Mixing the past and present, and making it work. Check them out and then wander off to the other sets, its worth the click….

Support Askate!
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Askate, autism, New York, skate, skate illustration, skateboard, street wear, therapy on June 29, 2010 by briandinonnoChildren with autism often struggle with the ability to follow directions, play on a team due to the lack of social skills, and many require activities to be performed on their own terms. Skateboarding and autism just fit! No team, no coach, rip solo.
The A.skate Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit that allows children with autism to be a part of our social world through skateboarding. They hold clinics for children with autism at no cost to the families, give grants to children with autism for skateboard gear, as well as promote awareness and educate families about the skateboard industry. Five years ago 1:150 children were diagnosed with autism. Today 1:91 children are diagnosed with autism, 1:58 of those being boys according to the statistics on TACA now.
Here are a few of the things that they do:
- hold clinics nationwide for children with autism at no cost to the families
- give “Grants for Gear” for kids to purchase skateboard gear
- hold fundraisers and events to promote our cause
Autism, like skateboarding, can be unpredictable and often times unruly. We embrace the parts of autism that are hard to understand and give these kids an outlet that is free of rules or judgment, and allows them to be social without being “social”.
I am putting some time in to help Askate and bring some skate clinics to NY. I am also looking in to put together some sort of event/fundraiser to raise money for the foundation and spread awareness. If you would like to help in any way please contact me or Askate.org. As a skater for well over 15 years and a father, this is a cause I am fully behind.
More to come!!
